The Crossing

In my heart a battle wages on, slowly the damage is taking its toll

My hand grows weak as i try to hold on, will i lose control?

I look across to the other side, at that path i know i must take

And in between i and it, a vast pit of darkness awaits.

Fear sets in as i take a deep breath and to my god i pray

My hands are free and i am falling, will my feet find its way?

I reach out to the darkness and grab onto something that was there

Blinded, with only the light from the other side that seems to be floating in the air.

With each step i take, i could feel an ominous presence drawing near

That vanished once i reach the pit’s wall…the only way now was up from here.

Determination sets in as i look up, focusing all of my strength on that light

Guiding me up to the path i must take, my future has never seemed so bright…
